CONTEXT

Recently, building back public confidence while responding to disruptive change has become a top driver for government regulators around the world.

With rising expectations for increased functionality and adaptability in modern regulatory approaches, it is critical regulators regulate in a way that builds greater levels of trust and legitimacy with Canadians.

To address this challenge, today’s regulator must demonstrate an openness in how they engage with stakeholders; be agile in responding to new and emerging risks, opportunities and technologies, and; promote reliability that regulatory choices will lead to positive economic and social outcomes.

This year’s conference theme is “The New Regulatory Blueprint: Building Trust with Modern Approaches”, which will explore how the adoption of modern regulatory practices can generate greater legitimacy and better regulatory outcomes.
