Stefania Trombetti

Assistant Deputy Minister at Regulatory Operations and Enforcement Branch

Stefania Trombetti has been the Assistant Deputy Minister, Regulatory Operations and Enforcement Branch at Health Canada since April 2019. Immediately prior to this, she was Director General of the Health Product Compliance Directorate, leading a national compliance monitoring and enforcement program for drugs and natural health products, and a number of complex files, including drug shortages and Good Manufacturing Practices inspection transformation.

Stefania has worked in the Government of Canada for over 30 years, having served in the Departments of Environment, Public Works and Government Services, Industry, and Natural Resources before joining Health Canada. Over the course of her career, Stefania has worked extensively in policy research, analysis and development; federal-provincial/territorial relations; and, international relations and trade.

Stefania holds a Master of Arts (Political Studies) from Queen’s University and a Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours - Political Science) from the University of Ottawa. She also studied Italian history, culture, language and art at the University for Foreigners in Perugia, Italy.
